On Creating Characters
Overview
A character is built with bits. The Narrator names a tier, and the players build to it. Characteristic points first, priced by the advancement progression, then gear at list price. The total spent decides the tier, and whatever is left of the budget is bits the character has on them. Try to spend it all. Creation is the only time characteristic points can be bought.
Tiers
An Example
Take a fresh merc mustered out of the Roarkestown Rangers, built to a tier C budget of 20,000 bits. Integrity 3 costs 6 points, Ranged 3 costs another 6, and Defence 1 and Medical 1 cost 1 each. That is 14 characteristic points, 14,000 bits. A LazCar, a Duster and a suit of Vitae armour add 4,500 bits at list price, for 18,500 bits all told. A tier C combatant with 1,500 bits on them.
